STEINMETZER Joseph

Joseph Nicolas STEINMETZER was born in Heinerscheid/Clervaux; his father Nicolas was a Lehrer.
The latter left Heinerscheid in 1905 to take up the position of Lehrer in Rosport.
As of 1905 Joseph thus grew up in Rosport and from 1918 to 1923 he studied engineering at the Technische Hochschule Aachen to qualify as Bergbau-Ingenieur.
In September 1924 he married Marie-Joséphine Louise HAHN, born in Aachen, and the couple settled in Belgium where their first child Marie Thérèse was born in Brussels in 1925.
STEINMETZER resided at least up to 1937 in Belgium and returned to Luxembourg around 1940 to his family home in Rosport.
Around 1941 he obtained the position of Directeur des Minières de la Providence of Lamadelaine and moved to Rollingen/Rodange.
Joseph STEINMETZER died in Hintzert in 1944.
