Dr Ernst Albert STEIGMANN, born in Heilbronn in 1897, was a chemist.
He obtained his first patent in Germany in 1920 in the field of photographic processes. He worked at the Photochemische Abteilung des Physikalisch-Chemischen Instituts der Universität Göttingen.
In later years (1927-1928) he worked for the Heidelberger Gelatine-Fabrik Stoess &Co. in Ziegelhausen b. Heidelberg.
In the early 1930s he came to Luxembourg-city where he resided in 7 rue Fresez. During his stay in Luxembourg in the years 1936 to 1938 STEIGMANN obtained 28 patents in Luxembourg, mainly relating to photography. He also was a consultant with the German company Felix Sager & Dr Gossler GmbH.
He moved to the United Kingdom around 1938 and was interned in 1940 when WWII broke out.
In 1947 he emigrated to the USA.
He was a consultant engineer for Gen Foods Corp in Boston and made 12 inventions for that company.
STEIGMANN died in Boston in 1966.
His daughter Maud STEIGMANN (b. 1923 in Giessen/Hessen), while residing with her father in Luxembourg in 1937, obtained two Luxembourg patents relating to toys/games. She was some 14 years old and already a mature inventor (?), like her father who had obtained his first patent aged 23.
