SEILER Antoine

(1875 - )
Grevenmacher

Anton SEILER was born in 1875 in Grevenmacher, his father Johann Baptist was a Mützenmacher.
Anton joined his father’s business and became Mützenmacher-Geselle.
On 1 October 1895 Anton left home for the USA (erwerbshalber) and his sister Elise left for Paris (erwerbshalber).
In 1896 Anton married Louise BARTHEL, born in 1871 in Alsace (FR).
The couple had two daughters born in the USA in 1899, respectively 1900.
Louise died in 1919 in New Jersey (USA).
Anton SEILER probably left the USA for Luxembourg in the early 1920s.
In 1925, when he obtained his Luxembourg patent, he called himself “F. Antoine SEILER, ingénieur, machines-outils”, and resided at 5 route d’Arlon, Luxembourg-city.
On 31 January 1926 he was declared bankrupt; he was known as a Kaufmann and resided in Walferdange. By September 1926 he was declared: “sans domicile ni résidence connus”. He presumably had left Luxembourg by then.
It is not known when and where he died, but according to the death announcement of his mother in 1934, he had died earlier.
