Jacques SCHU was born in 1904 in Bech (Echternach). His father Nicolas SCHU was an Ackerer, born near Trier. His mother Maria JAEGER was born in Bech. The SCHUs were farmers in Hemstal/Bech.
Jacques was the eighth of twelve children.
He was educated at the Echternach Gymnasium and later trained with the company Philips in Brussels. He became a verrier-électricien.
In 1932 Jacques SCHU and his elder brother Jean Pierre (born 1896) set up the company “J.P. SCHU & Cie (NEOLUM)” in Luxembourg-city, with the object of:

“… fabrication d’enseignes lumineuses, de tubes à gaz rares et en général de tout ce qui a rapport à l’électricité dans le Grand-Duché de Luxembourg.”

Jacques SCHU was married to Claire WEBER.
He died in 1951 in Luxembourg-city at the age of 47.
Jean Pierre SCHU died in 1970 in Luxembourg-city.
