RIBECA Joseph

Joseph RIBECA (RIBECCA) was born in 1902 in Esch-sur-Alzette. His father Dominique RIBECA (born in Nocera Umbra, Italy) was a Handelsmann (cabaretier, épicier). His mother Laura PEZZETTI was also born in Italy.
In 1927 Joseph registered a company selling food products: “Maison Italux, alimentations” in Esch-sur-Alzette.
In the 1930s Joseph took over his parents’ “Café RIBECA” and ran it under the name “Dancing Locarno (also called Café Pé Ribeca)” in Esch-sur-Alzette. Around 1932 Joseph married Marie MARHAN born in 1911 in Esch-sur-Alzette.
In 1938 RIBECA’s “Dancing Locarno”was renamed “Dancing La Galerie” and in 1942 it was called “Gaststätte INDRA”.
RIBECA was known in the 1930s to openly support the fascist movements in Esch-sur-Alzette (see Addendum).
By 1952 the RIBECA-MARHAN couple resided in Luxembourg-city.
Joseph died in 1954 in Howald/Hesperange and Marie died in 1979 in Esch-sur-Alzette. They had no children.
