PALGEN-GILNIAT Aline

Aline GILNIAT was born in 1892 in Esch sur Alzette. Her father Auguste GILNIAT, born in 1849 in Charleroi (BE), was a Mechaniker. He set up an Eisenhandel around 1900 which he formally registered in 1910.
August GILNIAT died in 1911, and his wife Marianne MAY took over the management of the family business.
In 1919 Aline GILNIAT married August PALGEN (Gendarm) in Esch sur Alzette. She resided in the local Gendarmerie quarters.
When Aline’s mother Marianne died in 1924, Aline presumably continued running the family business and also set up a “Fabrique de sous-bocks – Bierdeckelfabrik” in Esch sur Alzette.
Together with her son Robert PALGEN Aline gradually developed the printing activities setting up a general purpose imprimerie.
Aline GILNIAT died in 1979 in Esch sur Alzette.
