NENNIG Emile

(1895 - 1964)
Luxembourg-city

Johann Baptist Emil NENNIG was the son of Charles NENNIG (architect) and Marie Thérèse SIMONIS.
He was born in Luxembourg-city on the boulevard Royal.
In 1924 NENNIG founded the company SOLEG (Société luxembourgeoise d’entreprise générale) with associate Heinrich SOHNIUS of Saarbrücken. The company had its seat on 10 boulevard du Viaduc in Luxembourg-city.
The two partners decided, however, to dissolve SOLEG three years later, in 1927. NENNIG set up his own business and developed his own novel building methods which led to his first patent obtained in 1930. His major patent relating to an “Appareil-grimpeur pour coffrages glissants” is dated December 1937.
In 1939, aged 44, he married Alice GUTTERMANN. The couple lived in 16 rue des Roses, Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.
NENNIG is known for the following public building works in Luxembourg:

“Zwickau” water towers near the Luxembourg railway station (1948)
light tower “Lange Nelle” in Ostende (1948)
airplane hangar in Findel (1950)
Attert bridge in Colmar (1951)
Alzette bridge in Mersch (1956)
“Lultzhausen-Bonnal” bridge (1959)

NENNIG obtained patents for 12 inventions which he made over the years 1930 to 1958.
He died in January 1964 at the age of 68.
