Joseph was the youngest of the three sons and was only two years old. The family must have abandoned Weiswampach in the1880s and moved to Wiltz. Joseph studied to became a lawyer.
His name was mentioned in the local press for the first time in 1890 when he (“Joseph LINCKELS de Wiltz”) was called as récipendiaire pour la candidature en droit to appear before the relevant examining board.
In 1891 he obtained the title of Doktor der Rechtswissenschaften and practised as a lawyer in Diekirch. He was named 2ter Ergänzungsrichter beim Friedensgericht des Kantons Diekirch in 1895.
In 1896 LINCKELS married Anna EVEN of Beaufort. She lived with her parents in the Castle of Beaufort which her father Henry EVEN had bought in 1893.

Joseph LINCKELS took over the management of the family enterprise.
He became mayor of Beaufort in 1909, his occupation being Industrieller und Agronom. The couple LINCKELS-EVEN had three children.
