LEFORT Pierre François
LEFORT was born 1798 in Luxembourg-city (rue de Charbon). His father was of French origin (born in Verdun) and his occupation was employé à la trésorerie nationale. LEFORT’s mother Maria SCHAAN (SCHAANEN) was the daughter of a tailleur in Luxembourg-city.
LEFORT was married to Françoise NATHALIE, born in Bordeaux and they had a child born around 1833 in Paris. In 1844, when he applied for a patent in Luxembourg, LEFORT lived in Metz.
In 1845 he left Metz to set up a galvanising atelier in Remich. His household is listed in the Remich Census of 1846.
LEFORT (fabricant breveté) lived on the premises of his atelier together with a commis négociant, two ferblantiers, and a servante.
Judging from the content of the patent file, LEFORT had been working in the early 1840s in the galvanising field where he learned the trade. He made an invention in Metz and applied for a patent in Luxembourg when he set up his own business in Remich.
It is not known when and where Pierre François LEFORT died.
