LAZARD Paul
Paul Jules LAZARD was born in Valenciennes (France). In 1928 he married Gabrielle BONN in Luxembourg-city, daughter of Myrtil BONN. The latter owned a furniture shop by the name of “BONN frères”. LAZARD became partner in the family enterprise and took it over in 1930.
The following dates and events summarize the development of the “Palais du mobilier Bonn frères”:
1855 foundation of the enterprise by Moïse BONN in Luxembourg-Grund
1872 Stanislas BONN transferred the BONN shop to rue Philippe II in the centre of Luxembourg-city
1888 Stanislas BONN died; Robert, Myrtil and Raoul took over the BONN enterprise
1905 Robert and Myrtil BONN founded the company “Bonn frères” while Raoul BONN founded his own shop in Esch sur Alzette
1918 Robert and Myrtil BONN separated amicably, their company was dissolved and Myrtil became the sole owner of the business
1925 Myrtil BONN had a new building erected in rue Philippe II
1930 Paul LAZARD became partner in the company which took on the name of Palais du mobilier, Bonn frères
In June 1956 Myrtil BONN handed the management of the company over to Paul LAZARD; Myrtil BONN died soon after, in July 1956.
LAZARD became the sole owner of the business and was joined in 1958 by his son André. He lived in the family home of the BONNs in 59 boulevard de la Pétrusse.
Paul LAZARD died in 1986.
