KRATZENBERG Heinrich Joseph
KRATZENBERG was born in Friesenrath, Nordrhein-Westfalen. He came to Luxembourg in the late 1860s to take over the job of Geschäftsführer des Grafen von Clerf. In 1871 he married Regina KOENER, born in 1851, daughter of the local Metzger.
The couple KRATZENBERG-KOENER had 14 children, all born in Clervaux.
Their eldest son (Max Heinrich) Damian KRATZENBERG (1878-1946), was a professor, first in the Gymnase in Diekirch and later in the Athénée in Luxembourg-city. Damian became a leading NAZI collaborator and after WWII was sentenced to death and executed in 1946.
Michel (Joseph) KRATZENBERG (1886-1959), the second son of the couple, acted as mayor of Clervaux in the 1930s.
Heinrich Joseph KRATZENBERG (father) died in 1926 in Clervaux. He made two totally unrelated inventions in the early 1890s.
