Jean René KETTELS was born in 1905 in Luxembourg-Hollerich. His father was a Postbeamter and Musiklehrer.
In 1931 René left Luxembourg to take up a position in the Belgian Congo.
He probably left the Belgian Congo for Luxembourg around 1945. He married Jeanne THIRY, born in Differdange and the couple presumably settled in Luxembourg-city.
In 1951 René KETTELS took over the the café-restaurant Emile SCHMIT-MASSARD in 105 Grand’rue. The establishment took on the name KETTELS-THIRY and was also known as “Le Congo”.
The couple KETTELS-THIRY divorced in 1968.
René KETTELS died in 1979 in Echternach.
