JUNGEBLODT Engelbert

(1878 - 1970)
Stralsund (DE)

Engelbert August JUNGEBLODT was born in Stralsund, Prussia on 17 October 1878.
He was the son of August JUNGEBLODT and Helena RINTELEN who probably both came with their family to Luxembourg around 1885.
Father August was a civil servant (Geheimrat) in the Luxembourg administration. In 1893 he became Zolldirektor.
Engelbert JUNGEBLODT grew up in Luxembourg and studied at the Luxembourg Gymnasium where he passed his Reifeprüfung in 1897. He qualified as engineer.
In 1911 he married in Luxembourg Mika SCHMIT, daughter of Adolf SCHMIT, avocat, bâtonnier and deputé. At the time JUNGEBLODT lived in Liège.
Mika SCHMIT and JUNGEBLODT’s sister Constance had known each other since 1903 as they were both students in an art class in Metz.
The couple’s first child (Ferdinand) was born in March 1915 in Luxembourg (13, côte d’Eich), but the birth declaration mentions the couple’s residence as Liège.
In the same year (1915) the couple is also reported residing in Vienna.
From the patents obtained by JUNGEBLODT his places of residence can be retraced as follows:

1921 Rauxel i. W.
1925-1926 Mondorf (Villa Suzanne)
1927-1928 boulevard Royal, Luxembourg
1929-1930 5, rue des Marroniers, Luxembourg
1931 17, rue Goethe, Luxembourg
1932-1949 25, rue de la côte d’Eich, Luxembourg

In 1934 JUNGEBLODT is reported having visited the USA with his daughter.
From the membership records of the “Association luxembourgeoise des Ingénieurs et Industriels” we learn that JUNGEBLODT was resident in côte d’Eich up to 1967.
It would appear that JUNGEBLODT settled in Luxembourg in 1925 when he created with fellow engineers the company APMA – Appareils et matériel industriels s.a.:

Zwischen den HH. Englebert Jungeblodt, Ingenieur, Mondorf, …ist unter dem Titel „S. A. Appareils et Matériel industriels (Apma)” eine neue Gesellschaft gegründet worden, die die Herstellung, den Erwerb, Verkauf usw. von industriellen Maschinen, Apparaten und Produkten zum Zweck hat. …

The société anonyme APMA was dissolved on 14 December 1933 and a new société à responsabilité limitée with the name APMA was created in January 1934; it was still active at least until the year 1957.
In 1947 JUNGEBLODT changed his first name from “Engelbert” to “Englebert” and in 1951 (aged 73) he obtained Luxembourg citizenship.
JUNGEBLODT died in 1970 in Redange, at the age of 92.
