HUSS Edouard
Edouard Henri Valentin HUSS, born in 1895 in Ettelbruck, was the son of Dr Mathias HUSS, Professor at the Ackerbauschule (Ecole agricole) in Ettelbruck.
Mathias HUSS was born in Consdorf in 1860, qualified as ingénieur-agronome and became a teacher at the Ettelbruck Ackerbauschule around 1882. He resigned from his post in 1884, but must have returned to the Ecole agricole some years later as chargé de cours. In 1892, he was promoted to professeur 1re classe provisoire. The promotion was confirmed as nomination définitive in 1896.
Mathias HUSS resigned from the Ecole agricole in 1900 and moved to Luxembourg-city where he founded a Druckerei. He died in 1928.
His son Edouard HUSS grew up in Luxembourg-city, obtained his certificat de maturité in 1914 at the Athénée, and in 1819 enrolled in the Ecole Française de Papéterie à Grenoble where he qualified as ingénieur E.F.P.G. in 1921.
In 1922 he joined his father’s enterprise “Imprimerie Artistique Luxembourgeoise, Société Anonyme, Anciennement Docteur Mathias Huss”. He was named directeur-gérant in 1926.
After Mathias’ death in 1928, the company was dissolved in 1932, and in 1933 Edouard HUSS founded the company:
Imprimerie Artistique Ed. Huss et Cie., société à responsabilité limitée, Luxembourg. (Die Ausführung aller Arbeiten der graphischen Kunst usw.)
Edouard HUSS resided in the family home in Boulevard de la Pétrusse. He died in 1949 in Luxembourg-city (see obituary in Addendum).
