FONCK Théodore

Théodore Henri FONCK was born in Metz in 1888. His father Henri FONCK (born 1851 in Remich) was notaire in Rambrouch. His mother Marie Barbara LEGRIS (born 1856 in in Metz) resided in Rambrouch in 1888 but gave birth to Théodore in her family home in Metz.
Théodore became an engineer. In 1912 he married Anna Clementine MAJERUS in Perlé (his occupation was Ingenieur in Düsseldorf). His father Henri FONCK died in 1919.
In the same year Théodore and Anna divorced; they had no children.
In 1921 Théodore married Elsa Paula PLEYL (born in Germany). Elsa Paula PLEYL had given birth to an illegitimate daughter in 1918 whom Théodore recognised and legitimated as his child at the marriage.
The couple FONCK-PLEYL settled in Remich.
In July 1920 Théodore FONCK founded the family company “Th. Fonck & Cie”:

Elle a pour objet l’exploitation des carrières à gypse et la fabrication de toutes sortes de plâtre, de plus l’achat et la vente en gros et en détail de plâtre, matériaux de constructions, essence, huile, carbure, poudre, courroies et machines de tous genres, ainsi que le louage d’automobiles de tourisme et de camions.

In October 1921 the company was dissolved by Court order.
Théodore FONCK re-founded the company and renamed it: “Les Plâtrières luxembourgeoises, anciennement Th. Fonck & Cie.”
Théodore’s wife Elsa Paula PLEYL died in 1924, at the age of 36.
In 1925 FONCK formed a partnership with Jean Baptiste KOLB with the following object:

… la réparation de tous articles électriques et spécialement l’installation, la réparation et l’entretien des équipements et articles électriques pour automobile.

The above company “Les Plâtrières luxembourgeoises” was dissolved in 1926.
In August 1927 Théodore FONCK married Marguerite PLEYL (his previous wife’s sister) but she died in 1931, at the age of 39. They had a daughter, named Victoire.
Théodore FONCK died in 1964 in Luxemburg-city.
