Auguste Désiré DUFRANE, was born in 1836 in Farmières (Belgium). He married Céleste MACART around 1858 and took on a double family name.
The couple lived in Mons in 1869, in Antwerpen in 1875 and in Raincy (France) in 1896.
DUFRANE was an entrepreneur de travaux publics and had invented a new system for tram rails which was successfully applied in a number of large cities, such as:
1873 in Gand
1878 in Antwerpen (track Antwerpen-Boom)
1886 in Rotterdam
1888 in Seine et Oise, France (track Raincy to Montfermeil)
