DECKER-BASTIN Willy

Michel Wilhelm (Willy) DECKER was the first child of Michel DECKER and Catharina KETZER. The DECKER-KETZER couple ran a shop in Echternach for:

Willy and his brother Leo joined the family business in the 1890s.
Willy DECKER married Henriette Aline BASTIN in 1909. His occupation was Handelsmann.
When his father Michel DECKER died in 1913, Willy DECKER took over the family business.
In 1924 he founded, with two associates, the company “Transformator” in Echternach:

Zwischen den Herren: 1° Willy Decker-Bastin, Bankier, wohnhaft zu Echternach; 2° Mathias Becker, Kaufmann, wohnhaft zu Luxemburg, und 3° Peter Klaess, Professor, wohnhaft zu Echternach, wurde heute folgender Vertrag abgeschlossen. Genannte Herren gründen eine Gesellschaft unter dem Namen “Transformator”mit dem Sitz zu Echternach. Zweck der Gesellschaft ist Fabrikation und Vertrieb von Gleichstromtransformatoren für Klingel-, Signal-, Telephon-Anlagen usw. Die Leitung und die Vertretung der Gesellschaft ist dem Herrn Mathias Becker mit Generalvollmacht übertragen

The company was clearly geared towards the commercial exploitation of the inventions which DECKER and Mathias BECKER had patented in 1923/1924.
The family textile company situated on the Echternach Marktplatz was officially renamed DECKER-BASTIN in 1937.
Willy DECKER died in 1953.
The company DECKER-BASTIN remained in the hands of the family members at least up to the 1980s.
