Samuel DANKS was born in 1842 in Scotland and his family emigrated to the USA around 1845.
He thus grew up in the USA.
In 1868 he began experimenting in Cincinnati with mechanical puddling of iron and obtained patents in the USA, Great Britain, France and Belgium for his invention of a novel puddling furnace.
