BURELBACH Christoph
Christoph BURELBACH was born in 1898 in Freilingen/Bitburg.
In 1922, when Christoph married Theresia WELTER in Medernach, his occupation was Schlosser in Esch sur Alzette. Theresia was born in Medernach in 1903, daughter of a Taglöhner.
The couple settled in Medernach where they had their first child in 1924. BURELBACH’s occupation was Schlosser.
By 1927, however, the family had moved to Leudelange with BURELBACH taking various occupations:
serrurier (1927) , Machinist (1928), Milchhändler in Esch sur Alzette (1930).
BURELBACH must have run into financial difficulties, since his goods (furniture, car) were sold in a public auction in March 1931 (Leudelange, Luxemburgerstrasse).
The family left Leudelange for Medernach.
A court decision of June 1931 and a press report of 1932 provide additional details of BURELBACH’s dubious business methods (see Addendum).
The BURELBACH family probably left Luxembourg at around that time and settled in Germany.
From a couple of death announcements published in 1952/1957 for WELTER family members, it can be inferred that the BURELBACHs resided in Wilhelmshafen (DE) at that time.
It is not known when and where Christoph BURELBACH died.
