BRAUN Léon

Léon Joseph BRAUN was born in Wasserbillig in 1911. He was the son of Jan Pierre BRAUN (Lehrer) and Susanna BALTHASAR.
Léon qualified in 1932 as licencié en sciences commerciales at the Université de Louvain.
In 1937 Léon married Léonie ROB in Wasserbillig. Léonie was the daughter of a Schlosser. The couple BRAUN-ROB settled in Wasserbillig where Léon became an Industrieller.
In 1946 he opened a Baumaterialiengeschäft mit Kohlenhandlung in Wasserbillig and started planning to set up a Zementwarenfabrik.
In 1953 he obtained a patent for a garden compost installation which he called “Komposilo”.
By 1960 he advertised Blumenkübel produced in his Wasserbillig factory.
He was very involved in the local community (conseiller communal, président de l’Union commerciale et artisanale, président du Syndicat d’initiatives, etc.)
Léon BRAUN died in 1996 in Grevenmacher and Léonie ROB died in 2002, also in Grevenmacher.
