BLYTH John Bennington
BLYTHE was a British citizen born in Holborn/Kent (England) in 1820. His mother was called Sarah BENNINGTON, hence his double first name.
BLYTHE was a partner of the company “Metal Refiners and Lead Ash Smelters” in England until 1848 when the partnership was dissolved.
He subsequently associated with DORSETT, a resident of Lyon, and they both filed their first patent application, as co-inventors, in Paris in 1859. The invention related to a process for conserving wood, in particular railway sleepers.
The BLYTHE-DORSETT partnership must have lasted at least until 1869 at which time BLYTHE settled in Bordeaux.
By the time BLYTHE filed his first patent application in Luxembourg he had already obtained a number of patents in France (see Addendum).
