BECKER Jean
Johann Becker was born in Gonnesweiler/Fürstentum Birkenfeld in 1844. In 1866 he married Anna Maria KIEFER in Neunkirchen The couple’s first two children were born in Gonnesweiler.
Around 1870 the BECKER-KIEFER family came to Luxembourg and took up residence in Larochette, where Jean BECKER’s occupation was Lehrer.
In the following years, up to 1880, his occupation was still recorded as Lehrer in the Larochette Civil Register, except for the year 1875, when BECKER was declared to be a Geschäftsreisender.
By 1880 the BECKER family had moved from Larochette to Ettelbruck (9 Gross-Strasse). Jean BECKER’s occupation was recorded in the Ettelbruck Census of 1880 as Landwirth (?).
In 1883 Jean BECKER was named instituteur à l’école primaire supérieure et agricole, and in 1887 he was promoted to professeur de première classe à l’école agricole d’Ettelbruck.
A year later, in 1888, he obtained Luxembourg citizenship.
Jean BECKER died in 1917 in Luxembourg-city.
