BADEN Philippe

Philippe Emil BADEN was born in 47 Gross-Gasse, Luxembourg.
His father Carl Maximilian BADEN was born in Beurig/Trier and became a Conditor. In 1863 he married Elisa WAGNER, born and residing in Luxembourg. The couple settled in Luxembourg in the Gross-Gasse. Carl Maximilian’s occupation was still Conditor; he was probably working with Nicolas NAMUR, who witnessed the birth of BADEN’s first son Philipp Carl.
Elisa WAGNER died in 1866 and Philipp Carl died in 1869.
In 1872 Carl Maximilian married Emilie REUTER, daughter of a Luxembourg-city Handelsmann. Nicolas NAMUR acted again as witness.
Philippe BADEN was born in 1875. His father’s occupation was recorded as Kaufmann. Philippe studied chemistry and obtained a doctorate at the University of Lausanne in 1904. In the same year he established a private laboratory in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg (see Addendum). Philipp BADEN published a number of scientific articles in the Bulletin of the Société des Naturalistes Luxembourgeois.
In 1924 BADEN created the company “La Cosmopolite” and edited the publication “Cosmo-Revue”. The venture was not a success and the company was closed in 1930.
Philippe BADEN died in 1933 in Luxembourg-city.
His death announcement qualified him as:

Dr. ès-sciences naturelles, Conseil en matière de Propriété Industrielle.
