ALF Eugénie

Eugénie Sidonie Augustine ALFF was born in 1908 in Luxembourg-city (16 Neuthor-Gasse). She was the daughter of Auguste ALFF (Polizei-Agent) and Catherine IRRTHUM.
As of 1910 the ALFF family dropped the second “F” in their family name and adopted the name ALF.
Eugénie married Michele FELICIONI (musicien), born in Italy, with whom she had a son, born in 1940.
In 1949 Eugénie obtained a Luxembourg patent for a “Neuartige Würfel und Behälter für die Ziehung von Lotterielosen”, an invention made by her father Auguste ALF.
As of the mid 1950s Eugénie was called regularly by clubs and associations to organise their lottery draws using the dies and baskets provided by her. The events were reported in the local press and referred to as the “Alf” system (see Addendum). She was last reported organising a lottery draw in 1976.
Eugénie ALF died in 1995 in Luxembourg-city.
